UPDATE: MAJOR EVENTS CANCELLED – AND THE WAY AHEAD

All GSA Ireland OG Clubs have been informed via email about the cancellation of all the main international events for German Shepherd Dogs on the SV/WUSV calendar for 2020, due to health and safety concerns over the global COVID-19 outbreak- please read on for further details.

The BSZS (Breed Sieger Show) in Germany and the WUSV IGP & Agility World Championships in Hungary will now not take place in 2020. The 2021 WUSV World Championships will take place in Lahti, Finland.

Guidance on other major events in Germany, including the tracking and herding championships, will be issued before the end of May. Two club trials in Ireland and the Irish National IGP Trial are currently postponed until further notice. The Universal Sieger World Championships, rescheduled for November in Strasbourg, France, has now also been cancelled for 2020.

The GSA Ireland National Executive is currently studying guidance from the Irish Government and NI Executive and awaits clarification from the SV/WUSV in terms of potential modifications to training, shows, trials and other events to accommodate social distancing – and also any extensions to dates/deadlines in terms of judge releases, breed surveys, character assessments and breeding regulations.

The Executive will consider the most current health and safety advice with a view to eventually re-establishing limited – and above all SAFE – training and competition in the months ahead, in the best interests of our members. The SV offices in Augsburg, Germany, are also currently operating on short working hours and we appreciate your patience during this difficult time.

Updates are also being published on our >>Facebook<< page.
